At a major industry ceremony in Melbourne, Q-MAC Electronics gained top honours at the prestigious Australian Export Awards.
Prime Minister John Howard was special guest of honour at the Australian Export Awards, where Q-MAC took out the Commonwealth Bank Small to Medium Manufacturers Exporter of the Year Award.
With 98 percent of the company's revenue derived from export markets, all Q-MAC staff are involved in the export market. The company exports have reached end-users in over 110 countries - including Antarctica. Q-MAC became an Australian National Export Award finalist by first winning their category in the Western Australian Industry State Export Awards.
Mr Vaile said winning an export award is a tough job with a record 448 entries received at the preceding individual state and territory awards.
"A great number of the entrants - 112 - came from regional areas," Mr Vaile said. "The winners of these awards are community leaders. As exporters they are part of a $154 billion industry that contributes to one in five jobs throughout Australia."
Gary Roach, (Picture Left) the Bank's General Manager, Transaction and Finance Products said that he 39th Australian Export Awards saw a record 72 national finalists vying for 10 category accolades.Presented by Austrade and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Australian Export Awards are acknowledged as Australia's most prestigious industry awards for excellence in exporting.
